Support from Santander | September 2014

Following the Royal Marines’ spectacular 350th anniversary celebration in the city, Santander Bank, one of the event’s main sponsors, attended the Officers’ Mess at Stonehouse Barracks, to present the Plymouth Drake Foundation with a £3,500 cheque.

The Plymouth branch of Santander match funded the amount raised from a raffle held over the four night event, where two fantastic prizes were up for grabs; a signed, half scale sized replica of McLaren Mercedes’ F1 racing driver, Jenson Button’s helmet – donated by Santander, and a Royal Marine Military Side Drum, emblazoned with the Royal Marines cypher - donated by the Royal Marines Band Service.

Arthur Ainslie, Chair of the Plymouth Drake Foundation commented: “We are thrilled that Santander was able to support the event so generously and we see it as the beginning of a long relationship. The money will go towards helping the communities in Plymouth.”

Elaine Bleazard, Branch Director of Santander added: “We are delighted to have supported the RM350 South West Proms event and are always pleased to support such fantastic charities like the Plymouth Drake Foundation, who work hard to really make a difference.”

The Plymouth Drake Foundation is a community charity which has a sole purpose of benefiting the people of Plymouth, by developing wealthy, healthy and lively communities. This is achieved by providing grants to Plymouth’s voluntary and community sector, as well as funding charities, community groups and social enterprises.
