The Grand Opening | June 2015

Plymouth Drake Foundation was asked to open a new drop-in centre run by Ambers Angels Trust. Steve Pearce, vice chair, was extremely pleased to be able to represent Plymouth Drake Foundation and play a significant park in the history of Amber Angels Trust.

Steve said
“I was made to feel very welcome and enjoyed meeting Amber, and Christine and their volunteers. Following a great deal of hard work by them to get their drop in centre and charity shop up and running, it was a real honour to be asked to formally cut the ribbon!
Amber Haigh, the founder of the charity for survivors of child abuse said:
“I wanted to create an environment that people felt safe in and feel like they want to get support here”

Amber invited Plymouth Drake Foundation to open the drop in centre in recognition of the award they won at Plymouth Drake Foundation’s Awards night in Sept 2014.

Amber explained
"I can't explain how I felt when we won that award," ”To get recognition from another charitable company was incredible, but we didn't even expect it.”

Amber, a survivor of childhood sexual abuse has officially opened her new "home from home" drop-in centre in Plymouth. Complete with a cosy café and giant settees, Amber hopes the drop-in centre will allow her to help more children and adults to overcome the trauma of childhood sexual abuse.
