Grants Awarded | February 2015

Overview

The Plymouth Drake Foundation and the Royal Navy Royal Marines Charity have had a successful partnership over the last 2 years and this has continued in February 2015 as we have awarded 3 grants to Plymouth Community Organisations on their behalf.

In total we awarded £6854.80 in grants to the following organisations:

1. Theatre Royal Plymouth received £2,500
2. Plymouth Arts Centre received £1854.80
3. Plymouth Music Zone received £2,500

These are the fantastic groups doing excellent work in our Plymouth Community Sector, but what are these grants going to be used for?

Theatre Royal Plymouth

The community engagement phase of a major project with the local Armed Forces Community at its heart, which will culminate in a production on The Lyric stage. The programme is run in partnership with the Theatre Royal Plymouth, The Bravo 22 Company and The Royal British Legion working closely with the MOD.

Plymouth Arts Centre

The grant will give former Naval Service personnel who are now suffering with dementia, their partners and families the chance to enjoy quality time together watching a film.

Plymouth Music Zone

Plymouth Music Zone's ‘UpBeat’ project will deliver creative music-making sessions to children of Forces’ Families, including Royal Navy/Royal Marines. ‘UpBeat’ will deliver children’s group sessions as well as offering inter-generational sessions with their parents and/or other family members, helping to build relationships, confidence, self-esteem and resilience to their circumstances.

A full press release will be out soon with more details on how the grants will be spent!
