Grant Awarded | February 2015

The Plymouth Drake Foundation have awarded £946.11 to Plymouth Underwater Hockey Club from our Councillor Community Fund - Peverell Ward.

Plymouth Underwater Hockey Club are a junior Club based in the Peverell area of Plymouth in the Plymouth Life Centre. They are an affiliated member of the British Octopush Association and are a junior club providing coaching and game time for young people from the age of 10 – 16. The club have a strong reputation for thee development of young people both in terms of sporting excellence and also in developing their people skills to become competent young coaches.

What will the grant be used for?

The group currently have approximately 60 members and a 10 strong voluntary coaching team. As the sport is based in the Lifecentre the cost of the sport is very expensive which can be inhibitive for the inclusion of those less able to afford the equipment. The club would like to fund the purchase of equipment that would be loaned to new young players to enable a more financially inclusive option to the club.

The community group, Plymouth Drake Foundation and City Council are currently organising a "meet the group" meeting; more information to come.
