The Alzheimer's Society and the Plymouth Drake Foundation has a growing partnership and this £3,000 meant that in the past 12 months the Plymouth Drake Foundation has awarded £8,247 to the Society. All of which has been used to set up the Ex-service officer memory cafe and to cover its evaluation cost for the 1st year.
This cafe was set up as the first national specific memory cafe set up just to help those who have served or care for those who have served and are suffering with dementia.
Dementia is sadly an increasingly common disease and people will need more and more help we are happy to say that his cafe helps to address these needs.
The cafe runs fortnightly every night and is run by the staff and volunteers of the Alzheimer's Society to which we are extremely grateful.
